Wagner named head wrestling coach at NPHS
Dan Wagner has been named the new head wrestling coach at New Prague High School, pending school board approval.
Wagner is a physical education teacher at Falcon Ridge Elementary School, and was the varsity assistant wrestling coach for the past eight seasons at New Prague. Prior to that, he was an assistant wrestling coach at Sauk Rapids-Rice High School for 2 years and the ninth grade wrestling coach at New Prague for two years. He has twice earned the Section 2AA assistant coach of the year award.
Dan is a former Trojan wrestler and furthered his education and wrestling career at St. Cloud State University. His wife, Terrye, is a sixth grade math teacher at New Prague Middle School and the Head Cheer Team advisor at New Prague High School.
In addition to his teaching and coaching duties, Wagner is a member of the New Prague Volunteer Fire Department. The couple resides in New Prague with their three children, Audrey-8, Charlie-5 and Jack-1.
Wagner takes over for Greg Tikalsky, who was head coach for 10 years. Tikalsky resigned after the conclusion of the 2015-16 season.
