Wallace Geyer, 85

Wallace W. Geyer, 85, of Montgomery, died Thursday, July 9, 2009, at the District One Hospital in Faribault.

Born February 18, 1924, at Elysian, Wallace was a son of Theodore and Agnes (Dehn) Geyer. He attended Bell Church Lutheran School in Le Sueur County. He married Agnes Spitzack on June 18, 1945, at Kilkenny. She preceded him in death on September 23, 1984. He then married Eileen Freier Gilbertson on December 5, 1987, at Cannon Falls. Wallace was a boiler engineer for Mengelkoch Rendering in New Prague, and also was a commercial fisherman. He was a member of the New Prague Sportsmen Club and church council member and usher for Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in New Prague.

He is survived by his wife; children Karen (Bud) Granger, Lake Crystal, Sandra (Roger) Mager, Scottsdale, AZ, Wally (Kathryn) Geyer, Shawnee, KS and Adam (Tamara) Geyer, New Prague; stepchildren Christie Gilbertson, St. Paul, Randall Gilbertson, Shoreview, Brian Gilbertson, Stillwater and Brenda Cloud Gilbertson, Minneapolis; 15 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and siblings Kenneth Geyer, Waterville, Ralph (Emma) Geyer, St. Paul, Glen (Shelby) Geyer, Waterville, Delores Gens, Le Center and Donald Geyer, Waterville.

He was preceded in death by his first wife; daughter Linda Joy Geyer; stepson Stewart Gilbertson; his parents; and siblings Theodore Jr., Judith Geyer and Brian Geyer.

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m., Monday, July 13, at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in New Prague, with Rev. Steve Trewartha and Rev. Van Miller officiating.

Interment was at the Czech National Cemetery in New Prague. Pallbearers were Book Geyer, Carl Granger, James Granger, Jon Mager, Adam Geyer and Wally Geyer.

Visitation was held from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the Bruzek Funeral Home in New Prague, and at the church on Monday one hour prior to the service.
