Wally Pfeifer, 86

Wally V. Pfeifer, 86, of New Prague, died Thursday, Dec. 20, 2012, at Mala Strana Health Care Center in New Prague.

Wally was born on November 15, 1926, in Grodek, Poland, a son of Stephen and Catherina Pfeifer. Born and raised in Poland, he came to the United States in 1952. He was a cement mason and block and cement finisher, working for Ralph Thomas Construction for the majority of his career. Wally married June Miller on November 17, 1962, in Montgomery. He enjoyed fishing, playing euchre and dancing, and was known for his great sense of humor.

He is survived by his wife; two daughters Diane Pfeifer, Long Lake, and Susan (William) Sleet, New Prague; a grandson William Sleet III; and four sisters-inlaw Evelyn (Richard) Novotny, Inver Grove Heights, Joan Carlson, Luck, WI, Mildred Taylor, Belle Plaine, and Dorothy (David) Scheffert, Montgomery.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers-in-law Glenn Carlson and Gail Taylor.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, Dec. 29, at 10:30 a.m., at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in New Prague, with Rev. Kevin Clinton officiating.

Spring burial will be held at St. John Lutheran Cemetery in Montgomery. Honorary urn bearers will be David Scheffert and Richard Novotny.

Visitation will be held from 9 to 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Wenceslaus Church.

Arrangements are with the Bruzek Funeral Home in New Prague.
