Warm weather brings quick end to ice fishing

It's hard to believe that just a couple of weeks ago we were at the cabin with the grandkids running the snow-mobile.

Here we are two weeks later and we're looking at 70-degree air temperatures. I'm sure liking it and I'm sure you are too!

Obviously this weather has put an end to the ice fishing locally. There wasn't much good ice around all winter so it doesn't take much to finish it off.

In the north there is still ice on all the lakes. I'm not sure what shape it is in but after this warm spell it has to take a beating.

What this early spring will bring remains to be seen. I do know that the robins and cardinals are singing their spring territorial songs. I also know we were very dry going into winter and that hasn't changed because of the lack of snow.

People are excited about spring and are pulling their boats out of storage. After the rain earlier this week, the lawns are even getting green.

It won't be long and we'll be talking about the spring turkey hunts. That will happen in April.

Well that's about all I have so enjoy the spring like weather.
