Wendell ZumBerge, 82
Wendell L. ZumBerge, 82, of Norwood Young America, died Friday, Oct. 31, 2008, at the Ridgeview Medical Center in Waconia.
Wendell Leon ZumBerge was born September 25, 1926, in Benton Township, Carver County, a son of Walter and Selma (Nellen) ZumBerge. He graduated from Central High School, and on April 14, 1948, he married Melva M. Kroells at St. Paul's Evangelical Reformed Church of Hamburg. The couple made their home in Washington Lake Township of Sibley County, where they were engaged in farming. He worked for the Northstar Auto Auction since 1995. When his wife died in 1996, he moved off the farm to a home in Norwood Young America. Wendell was an active member of the St. Paul's Ev. Reformed Church, where he was a past member of the Church Council and Men's Brotherhood. He is survived by children Larry ZumBerge, Keith ZumBerge, Karen (Douglas) Lueck, Kevin (Wendy) ZumBerge, David (Patty) ZumBerge and Kathy Lueck; grandchildren Tania (Terry) Waetjen, Jeremy (Elise) ZumBerge, Jamie (Jay) Dalchow, Heidi (Chuck) Monroe, Kelly (Angie) Lueck, Lindsey (Keenan) Harman, Amber ZumBerge, Kara (Nick) Croat, Holly (Ben) Stier, Ashley (Josh) Burtyk, Emileah ZumBerge, Natalica ZumBerge, Stephanita ZumBerge, Wes Lueck and Ben Lueck; 11 great-grandchildren; special friend Phyllis Odenthal; and brother-in-law Ken (Joyce) Kroells.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; brothers Lowell and James; daughter-in-law Nancy (Lueck) ZumBerge; son-in-law Randall Lueck; parents-in-law Arthur and Magdalena Kroells; and niece Kim Kroells.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, Nov. 4, at 11 a.m., at St. Paul's Ev. Reformed Church in Hamburg, with Rev. Daniel Schnabel officiating.
Interment was at St. Paul's Cemetery in Hamburg. Casket bearers were Jeremy ZumBerge, Ben Lueck, Kelly Lueck, Mitch Kroells, Wes Lueck and Jeff Kroells.
Arrangements were with the Paul-McBride Funeral Chapel in Norwood Young America.
