The average U.S household rolls to the curb between 1,700 and 1,800 pounds of garbage per year--not including recycling. But, where does it go after the garbage man takes it away?
An Elysian resident's garbage travels almost 200 miles before it's incinerated at the Xcel Energy power plant in Mankato. The remaining ash is sealed and buried in a landfill.
