Wick, Tomlinson heading to state CC meet

Freshman Molly Wick and senior Preston Tomlinson will represent New Prague High School at the state cross country meet Saturday, Nov. 1, at St. Olaf College in Northfield.

Wick placed fourth in the girls race with a time of 15 minutes, 16.5 seconds. Julia Harrison of Mound-Westonka was medallist in 14:28.9.

The Trojan girls just missed qualifying as a team, finishing one point out of second place.

Chaska won the team competition with 75 points, followed by Shakopee with 88 and New Prague with 89. The top two teams and top six runners not on those two teams advance to the state meet.

In the boys meet, Tomlinson finished sixth in 16:41.4. Zach Mellon of Buffalo finished first in 16:02.3.

Chaska won the meet with 58 points, while Willmar was second with 122. The Trojans finished in eighth place with 191.
