Wilfred Pauly, 79

Wilfred Willy Pauly, 79, of Jordan, died Friday, Jan. 2, 2009, at St. Francis Regional Medical Center in Shakopee, after a brief illness.

Willy was a lifelong resident of Jordan. He was born August 17, 1929, a son of Peter and Bertha (Bush) Pauly. He married Dorothy Jindra, daughter of the late Joe G. and Agnes Jindra of Montgomery, on March 15, 1952, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Jordan. He served in the U.S. Army. Willy owned and operated Scott County Oil/Union 76 for many years with his brother, Jiv, and his sister, Bernice. He was active in several Jordan civic groups and was also a talented artist.

He is survived by his wife; children James (Jody) Pauly, Coon Rapids and Mary Jo Pauly, Jordan; grandchildren Katrina Grace and Samantha Jo Pauly; siblings Bernice (Virgil) Hoffman, Jordan, Jiv Pauly, Cedar Lake (New Prague) and Della (Bob) Theis, Cambridge; and other relatives and friends.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday, Jan. 8, at 11 a.m., at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Jordan, with Rev. Paul Jarvis officiating.

Interment will be at Calvary Cemetery in Jordan. Pallbearers will be Gordie Hoffman, Daryl Hoffman, Hiro Watanabe, Peter Theis, Louie Maravelas and Larry Weckman. Honorary pallbearers will be Paul Wermerskirchen, Don Undesser, Ken Lucas, Mel Hentges, Lee Hentges, Tom Voight and Dave Bendzick.

Visitation was held from 3 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Ballard-Sunder Funeral Home in Jordan, and also one hour prior to the service at church on Thursday.
