Willard Hamlin, 87

 

Willard Hamlin, 87, of Montgomery, died Sunday, Jan. 13, 2013, at the Mayo  Clinic Health System Hospital in New Prague.  
Willard was born on August 20, 1925, in Warroad, a son of Bruce and Laura May (Brandli) Hamlin. He served in the United States Army in WWII and Korea. He married Joan Paulson in Northwood, IA, on July 28, 1958. Willard worked many jobs, including as a mechanic and heavy equipment operator. He also worked for Marvin Windows and Doors and Winco in Le Center. He was a member of the American Legion and enjoyed fishing and hunting.
He is survived by his wife; children David Hamlin, Montgomery, Rick Hamlin,  Farmington, IA, Budd Hamlin, Jensen Beach, FL, Lowell Petersen, Roseau, and Vicky; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife; infant daughter Deborah; and siblings John Hamlin, Raymond Hamlin, Hubert Hamlin, Robert Hamlin, Louis Hamlin and Luella Ploof.
A private family visitation, service and burial was held on Wednesday, Jan. 16, with military honors provided by the Montgomery Area Veterans Honor Guard. 
Arrangements were with the Schoenbauer Funeral Home in Montgomery.
