Woman killed, 8 hurt in crash near New Prague

A Brooklyn Park woman was killed and eight others were injured Sunday afternoon in a two-vehicle crash at the intersection of Highway 13 and Scott County Rd. 2 northeast of New Prague.

Regina Warren, 35, of Brooklyn Park, a passenger in a van driven by her husband, Anthony Warren, 36, was airlifted from the scene and died at North Memorial Medical Center in Robbinsdale.

According to the Minnesota State Patrol, the Warrens were in a minivan which was westbound on County Rd. 2 and were just pulling away from a stop sign when they were struck by a pickup truck that was southbound on Highway 13. The crash occurred at about 2:30 p.m.

Anthony Warren and the couple’s four children, Regina, 15, Anthony, 13, Antoine, 10, and Antonio, 5; along with another passenger, Savoy Walker, 6, were taken to Queen of Peace Hospital in New Prague, where they were all treated and released.

A couple in the pickup, Sanford Moen, 74, and Darlene Moen, 69, of Peoria, AZ, were also treated at Queen of Peace and released.

State Patrol Officer Mark Lund said he basically saw the accident happen in front of him.

“I was pulled over to the side of the road, making a phone call, when I heard the tires screech,” he said. “I looked up and saw the crash.”

He immediately called for an ambulance and helped the victims of the crash for about 10 minutes until other emergency personnel arrived on the scene. Besides the state patrol and North Air, the New Prague Police, Fire and both ambulances and the Scott County Sheriff responded to the crash.
