Work begins on street realignment project

Bevcomm and Frontier Communications relocated fiber optic cables before work began on the reconstruction of Sixth Street NW in New Prague. The removal of blacktop along the street was done on Thursday, Sept. 20. The street will be moved to the north to line up with Seventh Street NW at the intersection with Highway 21. Dennis Seurer, New Prague Public Works Director, said preliminary work on the new street includes replacing some of the base soil, as it is currently a sandy and salty mixture.
