Work is progressing on Fifth Street project

Crews from Chard Tiling & Excavating, Inc., continue to make progress on New Prague streets.
According to New Prague Public Works Director Dennis Seurer a small amount of curb and gutter and sidewalk work is left in the area around Fifth Street NE and Pershing Avenue N. Crews will be bringing in class five gravel for the street and next week expect to lay down asphalt, weather permitting.
The sidewalk along Seventh Street NE (Scott County Road 37) has been completed and turf restoration will follow.
After the Fourth of July, work will start on the street going through Memorial Park. The work is to be completed before Dozinky, New Prague's harvest festival held in September.
Residents can have weekly updates sent to them by contacting Julie Brinkman at Short Elliott and Hendrickson (S.E.H.) Inc., the city's engineering firm. They can email her at jbrinkman@sehinc.com. Residents should include their street address and email.
Weekly progress meetings on the street work, that are open to the public, are also held every Thursday at 1 p.m. at New Prague City Hall.
