Work underway to replace playground at Memorial Park

Work began June 15 to replace the playground equipment at New Prague’s Memorial Park.
City crews were busy removing the old equipment, which had been at the park along Main Street for more than 20 years. The project is part of plans to put in equipment at Memorial Park and Settlers Park this summer.
Ken Ondich, New Prague City Planner, said work to put in new equipment at Memorial Park will begin the week of July 4. Midwest Playscapes, Inc., of Chaska, has been hired to install the playground and is to have it done by July 15.
Ondich said with extra work, including the seeding of grass and the installing of a sidewalk, the area should be ready by the end of July at the latest. The cost of the project is approximately $65,000, which is part of the New Prague Parks Department budget for 2005.
