Wrestlers go one for one at section tournament
The Tri-City United Wrestlers competed in the Section 2AA tournament on Thursday, Feb. 14 in New Prague.
The Titans won their first match against No. 9 seed Mankato West, and then faced No. 1 seed powerhouse New Prague, losing that match.

In the first match, Tri-City United’s winners were Justin Kopet with a pin at 106 pounds; Jonah Johnson who won by forfeit; Levi Nelson won by major decision; Mason Rutt, Mason Brownlee, Max Arroyo (145 pounds), Josh Selly (152 pounds) and Marko Arroyo (160 pounds) all won by pins, and Kyle Hubert won 4-3 in double overtime at 170.
In the second match against New Prague, winners were Jonah Johnson at 120 pounds, Mason Brownlee at 138 pounds, and Josh Selly at 152 pounds.
“This was a tough match up for us. New Prague is a very well-rounded team with few weaknesses,” said TCU Coach Brian Mikel. “Hats off to New Prague. They wrestled very well.”
On a special note, Josh Selly notched his 125th victory of his career against New Prague.
“Great job Josh,” said his coach.

Next up for TCU will be the Section 2AA individuals in Waconia on Friday, Feb. 22 and Saturday. Feb 23.
