Montgomery Mallards 0, Union Hill Bulldogs 1
The Union Hill Bulldogs came to Memorial Field on Sunday and left without allowing any Mallards to cross the plate. Conrad Masberg threw a complete game, four hit shutout for the Bulldogs, keeping the Mallards bats at bay most of the afternoon, retiring in order the last 13 hitters.
The Mallards threatened several times early but stranded six runners in the first five innings, going 0-6 with runners in scoring position and having a runner thrown out at the plate. Ryan Iverson had two hits for the Mallards with Cole Pint and Dylan Westerman chipping in the others.
Mallard pitchers were the bright spot for the day with Ben Anderson pitching four shutout innings and Johnny Krocak allowing only one run over five innings of relief work.
The Mallards are busy this week with home games on Friday at 8 p.m. against Shakopee and at St. Benedict on Sunday at 2 p.m. They also had a game Wednesday evening against Elko.
