I must thank you for all of the birthday and Mother’s Day cards I received. The refrigerator doors and walls are full of cards of best wishes. AND I want to thank each and every one of you for your thoughtfulness. I’d like to write all of the messages I received but the Lake Region Life newspapers would be too heavy to mail! One which really expressed my feelings had the message “As time goes by, we begin to learn what matters. Years don’t matter, distance doesn’t matter, FAMILY and Friends matter.
When your child invites the neighborhood over for brunch, you have two options.
You could refuse. Crush her plans and have her renege the already delivered invitations.
Or... Just go with it.
Last Saturday morning, my house was filled with friends and neighbors.
Having the brunch inside was not the plan, but the morning proved too cool to hold the event in the garage and / or on the driveway. So, we cleaned and set up tables and rearranged a few things to make room indoors.
Parenthood conundrum
I’m hesitant to write this.
Parents are judged at every turn—every decision.
And, I’m a parent. I’m mom to two young ladies, Anna (8.5) and Ellen (6), who enjoy playing outside with the kids in our neighborhood and exploring.
They climb trees, fish, build forts in old woodpiles, campout in the backyard, and try to catch little critters.
They get dirty, sometimes injured, have touched poison ivy, and have wiped out on their bicycles.
WELL, I AM STILL HERE AND Nothing more drastic has befallen me. Guess Lisa is satisfied with her little "tricks" and things are back to normal albeit I do have the new address and guess it is permanent. However, I am glad that she scheduled me for this week instead of last week. The April 19 date on which Editor Jay wrote the column was also designated (by the Government, I guess) as “Earth Day”... can you imagine what she might have pulled on me if I had been scheduled to write that day?
YEP, JUST AS I SUSPECTED! In the last two columns I mentioned both times that I suspected Lisa (who schedules the column dates at the LIFE office) had an ulterior motive in scheduling me twice in the month of March, especially since the first column’s date line was the same as the first full moon in March and the second column a mere two days BEFORE the second full moon (the blue moon) of March. And everyone knows that the full moon (any full moon) brings out more "crazies" than any normal night.
Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to one and all. As I write this column Christmas morning, it never ceases to amaze me the generosity and friendly nature of those living in the Lake Region Area. It just seems like people come out of the woodwork when individuals and/or businesses are faced with tough situations. We have all seen it the last couple of months with events which has transpired in the area. People should be proud of their efforts in helping those in need. Enough said.
