Bruce David Baumgarten, 86

It is with profound sorrow that we announce the passing of Bruce David Baumgarten, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, and friend, who departed this life at his residence on June 14, 2025. Born on January 29, 1939, Bruce graced this earth for 86 extraordinary years, over 60 of which he spent in devoted marriage to his dear wife, Lee Ann.
Bruce’s work ethic was unparalleled. He worked the majority of his life in construction, where he built and repaired grain elevators for Hogenson Construction. Later he worked for Met Con and was currently driving for the WEM Public School District, where he became a familiar and friendly face to many. His dedication to his work was a testament to his character. Bruce was never one to sit still, always on the move, embracing life with enthusiasm.
Outside of work, Bruce was a man filled with zest and passion for life. He loved stock car racing; often sharing stories of thrilling races and adventures with friends and family. He was an avid fan of NASCAR, and never missed a chance to watch a race. He delighted in taking his grandchildren fishing and embarking on golf cart excursions throughout the neighborhood. Friends and family knew Bruce as a social butterfly, always catching up on the latest gossip at the Waterville Recycling Center, enjoying coffee at the Pheasant Cafe in Waseca, or sitting on his favorite bar stool at local bars, savoring an ice-cold beer and playing a handful (or more) of pull tabs. “All work and no play makes Bruce a dull boy,” was his motto and he absolutely lived his entire life according to it.
Bruce is survived by his son, Jason Baumgarten of Killkenny, Mindy (Corey) Neid of Waseca and grandchildren: Brecken Neid, Jenessa Baumgarten, and McKayla Baumgarten, who were the light of his life, providing him with endless pride and happiness. The family circle also includes siblings, and nieces and nephews who remember him fondly.
Bruce was preceded in death by his parents; Roy and Elsie Baumgarten, wife; Lee Ann, siblings: Kendra, Kathy, Susie, Ann Marie, David, and Eugene, and grandson; Brandon. Their spirits will forever be a part of his journey, and he will be missed deeply by those who loved him.
A celebration of life will take place on Sunday, July 20, 2025, from 1-4 p.m. at the American Legion Post #149 in Morristown, MN. It will be a time to share stories, and honor the remarkable impact he had on all who knew him.
