Grizzlies show positives during busy week

The WEM/JWP Grizzly wrestling team had a very busy week competing in five dual matches.
Despite only winning one of those five matches, the team won four or more individual bouts in four of the five matches.
The Grizzlies were edged 40-35 by Lake Crystal-Wellcome Memorial and lost 51-30 to Blue Earth Area Tuesday, Dec. 13. The team then traveled to Glencoe-Silver Lake/Lester Prairie for three matches. They dropped a 70-9 decision to Class AA No. 12 rated Watertown-Mayer, lost 57-23 to Glencoe-Silver Lake, and defeated Blaine, 42-38.
In the loss to Blue Earth Area, Carson Petry (120) won by fall in 20 seconds. Brady Murphy (113) won by fall in 34 seconds. Keegan Kuball won by fall in 1:19. Gavin Krause (152) and Lucas Morsching (160) each received a forfeit.
In the loss to Lake Crystal-Wellcome Memorial, both teams won seven bouts but the Knights scored more bonus points in their wins. Winning by fall for the Grizz were Morsching (160) in 41 seconds, Isaac Quast (170) in 2:27, Jack Cahill (195) in 51 seconds, and Kuball (285) in 1:10. Petry (120) won by technical fall in 3:20 and Murphy (113) and Avery Fall (220) won by decisions.
Watertown-Mayer/Mayer Lutheran is currently rated 12th in Class AA and they feature three state-rated wrestlers. Winning for WEM/JWP were Cahill (195) by fall in 1:50 and Kuball (285) by a 7-0 decision.
