John Clifford Renken, 93

John Clifford Renken, age 93, of Fridley, passed away on May 20, 2022, two days shy of his 94th birthday. He was a devout Christian, husband, father, grandfather, outdoorsman, inventor, and army sergeant.

He was born in Green Isle, MN on May 22, 1928, graduated from Waterville MN High School and Gustavus Adolphus College and was a CPCU (Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter). He lived in Waterville, MN and Fridley, MN. John served his country in both World War II and the Korean War.

He is survived by his children, Jeff (Kathy); David; Paul (Shelly); and their mother, Beverly Renken; sister- in-law, Fern Renken, stepdaughter, Rochelle (Donovan) Williams, 17 grandchildren and 19 great- grandchildren. He was predeceased by his parents, John and Emily (Mehlhop) Renken; brother, Lowell Renken; second wife, Mercedes Renken; stepchildren, David Ramirez, Gary Ramirez; and Kathleen (Russell) Otto.

A memorial service will be held at North Heights Lutheran Church Chapel, 1700 West Highway 96, Arden Hills, MN on Tuesday, May 31 at 11 a.m. [use the “B” entrance]. Interment will be at a later date at Fort Snelling National Cemetery. For those wishing to donate, in lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association.
