Lucille “Celie” Harriet Grose, 94

Lucille “Celie” Harriet Grose, also lovingly known as “Grandma Lucy” of Waterville passed away on the morning of Friday, November 11, 2022, at Traditions of Waterville.  She was 94 years old.

Born in Waterville on January 12, 1928, Lucille was the daughter of William and Gertrude (Hoffman) Poehler.  She was the third of six children.  She graduated from Waterville High School with the class of 1945.  On February 11, 1950, Lucille married William J. Grose at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Waterville.  As a young lady, Lucille did a lot of babysitting, worked on a farm as a hired gal, and was a nanny.  She then went on to work at Red Owl Grocery in Waterville, at Nusbaum’s Grocery Store in Waterville, at Brown Printing in Waseca, and the Waterville Nursing Home in the laundry department.  Lucille was most proud of her three daughters and two sons and their families.  She enjoyed every minute she spent with them.  She LOVED watching baseball with her two favorite teams: the Waterville Indians and the Minnesota Twins.  She also enjoyed fishing, reading, cross stitching, and watching Jeopardy.  She was a quilter with the ladies’ group at her long-time church home, Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Waterville.  She will be fondly remembered for her amazing wit, humor, and compassion.

Lucille is survived by her children, Mike (Kathy) Grose of Big Fork, Patricia (Dennis) Jewison of Waseca, Julie (Doug) Fessel, LuAnn Warner, and Joe (Michele) Grose all of Waterville; twelve grandchildren; twenty-four great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and two brothers, Joseph (Roslyn) Poehler, and Robert (Doris) Poehler, both of Waterville.  She was preceded in death by her husband; two grandsons, Andrew Grose and Lance Warner; brother William Poehler; two sisters, Angie Dahle and Virginia Blowers; and numerous siblings-in-law.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, November 15, 2022, at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Waterville, with Father John Powers officiating.  Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. until the time of the service at the church.  Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Waterville.  Dennis-Steffel-Omtvedt Funeral and Cremation Service in Waterville handled the arrangements.
