Steven James Meyer, 63

Steven James Meyer, age 63 of Waterville, unexpectedly passed away at his home on Tuesday, July 27, 2021.

Born in Davenport, IA on March 5, 1958, Steve was the son of Otis LaVern and Delores Ann (Rosenberg) Meyer. He attended school in Mequoketa, IA while also working on his family’s farm. When he moved to Minnesota, Steve originally lived in Kilkenny before moving to Waterville when he met his future wife, Colleen Dwyer. Steve and Colleen were married in Las Vegas on September 25, 2002. Over the years he worked as a bricklayer, boilermaker, iron worker for Kikomen Tanks and Marathon Tanks, and as a truckdriver. He also got involved in the construction of the annual ice castles at the St. Paul Winter Carnival. Because of his younger years on the farm, Steve enjoyed farming and tractors, as well as being in the woods and cutting wood. He had a great love for animals and the simple things in life.

Steve is survived by his wife, Colleen of Waterville; four children, Joe (Kristy) Smith of Faribault, Danielle Meyer of Waterville, John (Becky) Flaten of Altoona, WI, and Tim Flaten of Morristown; eight grandchildren; and two siblings, Linda (Lyn) Meyer of CO, and Bruce Edwards of IA. He was preceded in death by his maternal and paternal grandparents; his parents; and several aunts and uncles.

A memorial visitation was held from 4-6 p.m. on Monday, August 2, 2021 at Dennis Funeral & Cremation Services in Waterville. Private interment will take place at Davenport Memorial Park in Davenport, IA at a later date. dennisfuneralhomes.com
