Tentative plans forming for Elysian’s 4th of July Celebration
There will be fireworks, everything else is tentative
Elysian will celebrate the Fourth of July with fireworks this year. Beyond that, things are tentative.
“There’s not much to report. It’s just too early to know how to proceed—what the CDC guidelines will be in July,” explained Elysian Chamber of Commerce member Pat Nusbaum.
The Elysian City Council held a special meeting March 3 to discuss the Chamber’s plans for the Fourth of July and the city’s new event, Elysian Days.
It was the first time Nusbaum, who has been helping with the Elysian Fourth of July Celebration since 1984, has been asked to come before the council to discuss the celebration.
“Ideally, we’d like to have a large celebration, but is that practical? Is that safe? What would it look like? How do we make it happen?” she stated. “We have to follow the CDC guidelines… So, things—basically, everything but the fireworks—are tentative right now.”
Nusbaum confirmed Tuesday there will be fireworks in Elysian this year—like last year—but like everything else in 2021, the date the fireworks light up the night sky is still being determined.
The Chamber’s Fourth of July Celebration Committee is set to meet again April 20.
