Police arrest two in Lonsdale
On Monday, July 19, Lonsdale police arrested Troy K. Anderson, 19, and Matthew R. Vlasak, 23, both of Lonsdale, on four felony counts involving theft, and one count of damage to property.
According to a Rice County Sheriff's report, Lonsdale police had been investigating a string of burglaries at Lonsdale Auto Works and Great Wrench Auto.
Lonsdale police obtained a full theft report from Great Wrench owner Ron Johnson, which included serial numbers of tools that were taken.
On Wednesday, June 30, Le Sueur County Sheriff's Deputy Investigator Todd Waldron contacted Lonsdale Police Chief about a burglary he was investigating in which Vlasak was a suspect.
During his investigation he discovered that Vlasak had sold three tools at a pawn shop that matched the description of the stolen tools.
The report stated that the pawn shop provided police with Vlasak's address and documentation of other tools he had pawned over the past few months.
On Thursday, July 1, Waldron notified police that Anderson had also pawned five tools, some of which matched those stolen.
When questioned, Anderson, provided information about several burglaries involving him and Vlasak that occurred in Le Sueur, Scott and Rice counties. He described how they used a pry bar to enter the businesses.
Anderson also signed a written statement in which he admitted his involvement in the Great Wrench burglary and four other Lonsdale burglaries.
Two of the felony charges each carry a penalty of up to 10 years in prison, a $20,000 fine, or both. The charges for Third Degree Burglary each carry penalties of no more than five years in prison and a $10,000 fine, or both; and the fifth charge for Fourth Degree Damage to Property carries a penalty of serving no more than 90 days in jail, a $1,000 fine, or both.
