Only six total Tri-City United (TCU) runners competed in the New Prague Cross Country Invitational Thursday, Sept. 25 at Cedar Lake Farm.

The top runner on the day was senior Grant Fitterer who placed 11th in 18:09 in the boys race.

Sophomore Gabriel Coryell placed 32nd in 19:32. Freshman Graysen Moon placed 37th in 20:32. Eighth grader Patrick Duchene placed 41st in 21:03.

TCU senior Ella Schmiesing highlighted her team’s dual meet Tuesday, Sept. 23, with a record-breaking performance.

Schmiesing, a multi-time All-State performer, broke her own pool and school record in the 100-yard butterfly, taking first in a best time of 59.26. She also won the 50-yard freestyle in 24.85.

The Titans placed second to New Prague, 95-66, in a Senior Night event.

Other first place performances were turned in by Lily Traxler in 1-meter diving with 191.55 points and Kaylee Rezac in the 500-yard freestyle in 6:04.88.

Three weeks ago the Tri-City United (TCU) girls soccer team suffered a 10-4 loss to St. Peter.

The Saints are an outstanding team and the Titans knew they would get another shot at their opponent to the west.

TUC faced St. Peter Thursday, Sept. 18 and played much better in a 4-1 loss.

Members of four area amateur baseball teams won’t be putting the spikes, bats and gloves away just yet now that their respective teams have won their way into the Minnesota Baseball Association’s State Tournament beginning this weekend.

Webster is going to state as District 5B’s No. 2 seed behind Jordan. The Brewers topped the Sox Saturday, Aug. 9, at the Mini Met.

Prior Lake’s Mudcats will take the district’s No. 3 seed to state thanks to a win over Union Hill Saturday.

Jordan topped Webster Saturday evening, 6-2, to earn District 3B's top seed to the Minnesota Baseball Association's upcoming state tournament.

Webster will take the district's No. 2 seed to state. Prior Lake topped Union Hill, 4-3, Saturday, Aug. 9, for 3B's No. 3 seed. The Bulldogs are the No. 4 seed.

After the Jordan-Webster game, the teams drafted players from other district teams for the state tournament.

Mallards remain hot, going 2-0 on the week with a three game win streak and winning four of the last five, before heading into an extended break over the 4th of July holiday. The Mallards are now 8-8 in DRS League action and 10-9 overall.
Montgomery Mallards 4, Waterville Indians 3
The Mallards traveled to Waterville Friday night for a non-league game against the Indians, scoring in the top of the 9th to leave town 4-3 winners.

Titans Branko Schoenbauer, Addison Mann, and Jacob Cihak, qualified individually, and the TCU trapshooting team have qualified for the Minnesota State High School League’s (MSHSL) State Clay Target Tournament on Friday, June 20, at the Minneapolis Gun Club in Credit River Township.

These are the basic results for the Minnesota State High School League AA Girls Track and Field Tournament Championship event results at St. Michael-Albertville High School for Tri-City United High School's competitors from Thursday, June 12.

A total of eight Tri-City United (TCU) girls track and field team have advanced to the Class AA State Meet, which will be held Wednesday, June 11 and Thursday, June 12 at St. Michael Albertville High School.
The Titans placed fifth in the Section 1AA Championship Saturday, May 31 and had many top performances. Northfield placed first with 139 points and they were followed by Byron (125), Winona (121.5), Stewartville (116), and TCU (96).

One of the best seasons in Tri-City United (TCU) softball history ended Saturday, May 24 in the Section 2AA Tournament at Caswell Park in North Mankato.
The Titans opened the tournament with a 13-0, 5 inning win over Blue Earth Area (BEA) Thursday, May 22.
In the second round, No. 6 seed Le Sueur-Henderson upset the No. 3 seeded Titans, 2-1 Friday, May 23.
In the first round of the consolation bracket Saturday, May 24, No. 2 seed Fairmont defeated TCU, 7-5, ending their season with a 14-6 record.

After starting the week losing two close games of a doubleheader, but won on Thursday and Saturday to finish the week .500 as they head into section playoffs next week.
New Ulm 6, Titans 4, (8 Innings)

With five straight wins, including four in the Big South Conference, the Tri-City United (TCU) softball team is on top of the conference standings.
TCU is 9-1 in the conference big schools division. They lead New Ulm (8-1) and St. Peter (9-2) heading into the final two weeks of the season. The Titans are 12-2 overall after the win streak.
TCU defeated Waseca, 11-6, May 6, swept a doubleheader May 8, downing Marshall 11-0 and 10-6, edged Belle Plaine, 3-1, May 9, and defeated Cannon Falls, 5-4, Monday, May 12.

Where your season concluded: Lost in the second round of the State Tournament to eventual champion Waconia.

Sibley East 8, Titans 2, 8 innings

Tri-City United (TCU) pitcher Claire Hoefs allowed only two hits and struck out eight batters in a 13-0 win over Waseca Tuesday, April 15.
Hoefs pitched one of her top games of the season in leading the Titans to the Big South Conference win and her team’s fifth straight victory. She walked only two batters and improved to 2-0.
Laynee Blaschko was 2-for-3 with four RBI and a triple. Cristina Cruz was four times. Anne Cooper was 1-for-2 with three RBI and two runs scored. The Titans walked nine times.

Montgomery Messenger Sports like football, wrestling, and weightlifting are thought of as male-dominated sports in the United States. The numbers still show that they are still a boys club but they also show that girls are taking an increasing interest in those sports. In fact, girls have been taking more interest in sports overall over the past few decades.
