Boys earn first win against Sibley East

After a couple of close losses to Fairmont 44-47, Belle Plaine 35-61, and Waterville-Elysian-Morristown 38-40, the TCU boys’ basketball team cranked out a 65-52 home win over Sibley East on Friday, Dec. 17.

The win came after a slow start for the Titans, who quickly pulled ahead and established a 35-22 lead they held at halftime. The lead helped TCU win because both teams scored the same number of points (30) in the second half. Titan Fakourou Tandia helped cement the win in the final minutes when he made four free-throw shots in the final minute. Tandia went on to be the team’s top scorer with 19 points. He was followed by Adam Henze’s 14, and Reggie Vosejpka’s 13 points. Nolan Readmond added 6, Jonathan Hurd 5, and Hendry Schendel and Lucas Holicky each chipped in 4.

In the game against Waterville-Elysian-Morristown, the Titans lost 38-40 from a last-minute shot. Hurd was the team’s top scorer with 15 points, followed by Vosejpka’s 10. Tandia added 9, and Readmond and Schendel each added 2.
