Charles E Kasper, 88
Charles E Kasper, 88 of Montgomery passed away Saturday, Sept. 2, 2023, at his home. Visitation was held Friday, Sept. 8, 2023, from 4 to 7 p.m. at Schoenbauer Funeral Home in Montgomery and one hour prior to service on Saturday, Sept. 9, 2023 at the church. Funeral was held on Sept. 9, 2023, at 11 a.m. at Most Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in Montgomery. Interment was in Calvary Cemetery. Military honors where provided by the Montgomery area Honor Guard.
Charles was born on Sept. 25, 1934, to Charles V. and Marie (Sisser) Kasper in Steele County, Minn. He graduated from Owatonna High School and served in the US Army from November 1954 to November 1956. He was united in marriage to Berneice (Sable) on Sept. 7, 1957, at Sacred Heart Church in Owatonna.
Chuck and Berneice moved to Montgomery in 1962 where he operated Kasper’s Cities Service on the corner of Main and Oak Streets (currently the House of Insurance) in Montgomery until 1969. He worked in the fuel and service station industry until 1975 when he went to work for Benson Candy as a routeman. Later in his career, he went to work for M. Amundson Cigar and Candy company in Bloomington, Minn. where he worked until his retirement.
Chuck was a member of the Civil Defense and Police Reserve for years. He served on the Montgomery City Council, Planning and Zoning committee, Most Holy Redeemer Church Council and served as Grand Marshal of the 2006 Kolacky Day Parade.
Charles is survived by children, Carla Marie Ellman of Montgomery, Gregory (Deborah) Kasper of Belle Plaine, Charlotte DeMars of Faribault, and Douglas (Mary) Kasper of Belle Plaine; nine grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; brother, David (Pam) Kasper of Owatonna and many nieces and nephews. Honorary “family” and special friends, Kate and Dan Scheel.
Preceded in death by wife, Berneice; sons, Michael and Mark; parents; brothers, Donald, Robert; sister, Marjorie.
