Douglas Alan Traxler, 52

Douglas Alan Traxler, 52, of Le Center, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, April 27, 2022, at his home.

A visitation with family present was held Tuesday, May 3, 2022, at the Le Center Funeral Home. A celebration of life was held Wednesday, May 4, 2022, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Le Center. Donations will be directed for the purposes of scholarships with Tri-City United Dollars for Scholars and to the St. Paul Lutheran Church Endowment Fund.

The oldest of three sons, Doug was born to Gordon and Charolette Traxler on January 24, 1970, in St. Peter, Minnesota. Growing up outside the town that he called home for his entire life, Doug graduated in 1988 from Le Center High School, where he was active in FFA.

He graduated from the University of Minnesota-Waseca in 1991. At Waseca, he met Denise Larae Christoffels, and the two were wed on March 23, 1991 in Luverne, Minnesota, a union which brought them two sons, Marcus and Evan.

After working for a brief period in manufacturing and retail, Doug worked for 26 years as an appraiser, including 23 years in the Blue Earth County property services department in Mankato, earning accredited status. He was an active member of the Minnesota Association of Assessing Officers (MAAO).

Doug was involved in his community, including the Le Center Community Club, St. Paul Lutheran Church, Le Sueur County Pioneer Power, along with Dollars for Scholars and sports booster clubs for Le Center and Tri-City United high schools.

Doug also officiated youth football, basketball and baseball games, and ran the scoreboard for Tri-City United sporting events.

In his free time, he enjoyed spending time with his family, including South Dakota State Jackrabbit football games, being outdoors, smoking and grilling foods, helping out on the family farm and tinkering with projects in his garage. He frequently used time off at work to make sure he was at events that were important to his family and his community.

Doug is survived by his loving wife of 31 years, Denise; his sons, Marcus, of Mitchell, S.D., and Evan (special friend Jaden), of Le Center; and his parents, Gordon and Charolette Traxler, of Le Center; brothers Brian (Heather), of Le Center, and Dan, of Chaska, Minn.; mother- and father-in-law Alvina and Donald Christoffels, of Luverne, Minn.; brothers-in-law Doran (Jean) Christoffels, of Chandler, Minn., Dean Christoffels, of Houston, Texas; and sister-in-law Darci (Dave) Hampson, of Oak Creek, Wis.; aunt Rita Kunz, of Elysian, Minn.; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
