Kolacky Days button design and annual Community Club Membership Drive
The Montgomery Area Community Club (MACC) announces their button design contest winner, Ana Stasney of Montgomery.
Stasney received $150 Monty Bucks, a Kolacky Days t-shirt, a limited edition oversized collectable Kolacky Days Button, and two regular-sized Kolacky Days buttons of the design she created.
The process for designs was started in Oct. 2022, when MACC asked for designs to be submitted. After designs were submitted in early November, all members of the MACC voted later in the month for their favorite out of the 13 submitted.
Stasney, a junior at Tri-City United High School, was made aware her button was chosen November 14. She was forced to keep it a secret until they officially announced it now.
“I originally had two ideas for the button. One was more generic with just a kolacky,” said Stasney. She wasn’t really sure what she should do. Her parents told her to look at previous buttons to get an idea from there.
The design Stasney eventually chose was one inspired by a previous button from 1997 that featured a concertina player. She liked the idea of the concertina. “It’s a kind of a memory of Kolacky Days, that one thing that really resonates to me,” she said.
