Luverne ends Titan football season
A four quarter turnover led to the only touchdown of the game for Luverne in their 6-2 win over Tri-City United in the Section Quarterfinals played Oct. 24.
“We are disappointed to have the season end abruptly in the playoffs as we had our sights set on a playoff run. Unfortunately, we couldn't get enough going on offense to pull out the win despite a great defensive effort,” head coach Matt Collins said.
The Titan defense allowed just 68 yards rushing on 32 carries and 77 yards passing, but Luverne used a long pass play after a Titan turnover to get into scoring position for the lone touchdown of the night.
Kaden Malecha led the defensive effort with 10 tackles from his defensive end position including two for a loss. Kellen O'Keefe had nine tackles. Gavin Sherman added seven tackles and a fumble recovery. Matthew Squires had an interception for the Titans.
