MACC reveals Kolacky Days button

The Montgomery Area Community Club revealed this year’s Kolacky Days button design at the first of two weekend membership drives on March 16.

The button was designed by Lisa Ingebrand, New Prague, and writer for the Montgomery Messenger.

New and renewing members received a kolacky and a button at the first weekend on March 2. A second weekend is Saturday, March 16, at Franke’s Bakery from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

According to MACC President Tom Washa, the MACC asked for designs in late October/early November. It received 11 designs this year, the most designs he has ever had for the contest and most since he has been on the board.

“The quality of each design was high,” he said.

This was the fourth year the selection process was open to ALL 214 members who were either invited to ask for a ballot via email or stop in before or during the MACC annual meeting in November at the American Legion.

“It’s one of the perks of being a MACC member,” he stated.

Ingebrand receives $100 in Monty Bucks, a Kolacky Days T-Shirt, a limited edition oversized Collectible Kolacky Days Button of the design, two Kolacky Days buttons, and media coverage and to see his/her design all over the Kolacky Capital.

The Kolacky Queen also receives the honor of taking the button to the St. Paul Winter Carnival in January to distribute to His Royal Highness, King Boreas, and the other royal members in attendance.
