Marcussen named Most Valuable Titan
Tri-City United sophomore Alexia Marcussen was selected Most Valuable Player of the Titan Girls Basketball Team during their Awards Banquet Sunday, March 12.
Marcussen led the Titans with free throws made (5), best free throw percentage (50-of-70, 71.4%), assists (81), steals (53), deflections (78), and she also scored 192 points in 27 games (7.1/game).
Marcussen and classmate Audrey Vosejpka each received Honorable Mention All-Conference Honors.
Kaia Krocak, Jacy Saemrow,, and Sami Tiede were also honored with the Academic All-State Award.
Other team awards included Vosejpka receiving the Team Award and freshman Ella Schmiesing being named Most Improved.
Schmiesing led the team in rebounding with 77 offensive, 142 defensive, and 210 total rebounds. She also led the team in scoring with 243 points in 27 games (9.0/game).
Receiving their first letters were Schmiesing, sophomores Grace Hennen, Anne Cooper, Ava Flintrop, and Sophie Whipps and senior Jacy Saemrow. Marcussen, Vosejpka, sophomore Emma Skluzacek, and junior Gabby Dahlke received their second letter.
Senior Sami Tiede lettered for the third time and senior Kaia Krocak lettered for the fourth time. Dahlke, Tiede, and Krocak were captains. Senior Karen Ruiz also lettered as a team manager.
