Russell Clarence Harkins, 70
Russell Clarence Harkins, 70, of Le Center, died on Monday, March 2, 2020, at Methodist Hospital in St. Louis Park. Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 5 at the Le Center Funeral Home from 2:30 to 6:30 p.m. Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, March 6 at 10 a.m. with visitation one hour prior at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Le Center with Fr. Tim Sandquist, officiating. Interment will be at a later date.
Russell was born on August 21, 1949, in Mankato to Clarence and Kathryn (Minars) Harkins. Russell served in the United States Army from 1967 to 1970 and received a Purple Heart during his time of service.
Russell was united in marriage to Vergene (Schultz) on November 16, 1968, in Le Center. Russell was an electrician and owned and operated Harkins Electric for 47 years.
Russell was a past VFW Commander, member of the Lexington Sportsman Club, and American Legion. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing cards, spending time with grandchildren, and loved being an electrician.
Russell is survived by his wife, Vergene “Jean” Harkins of Le Center; children, Derrick (Annette) Harkins, Angela (Brent) Christian, Clint (Vicki) Harkins, Brooks (Brad) O’Keefe, and Emberlie (Jeff) Tellijohn; grandchildren, Sara, Vanessa, Codie, Victoria, Alex, Katrina, Ted, Cassie, Lizzy, Pat, Emily, Kaylee, Brendan, Kellen, Eian, Tristan, Tycen, and Teegan “Russell”; great-grandchildren, Myah and Raiden; siblings, Mike (Patti) Harkins and Denny Lang.
