Stop-arm and interior cameras installed on school buses

New stop-arm cameras and interior cameras have been installed on all 27 of the big yellow school buses that transport Tri-City United students.

“They are great new bus safety tools,” stated Pat Toth, Tri-City United Terminal Manager of Palmer Bus Service in Montgomery. “Our drivers love it because it makes their job safer. Instead of trying to read a license plate and writing down the information immediately following a traffic violation incident, they can focus on the safety of the kids—which is always their top priority.” Palmer Bus Service, which owns and operates the fleet of buses and vans that service TCU School District, used grant money it was awarded from the Minnesota Department of Public Safety to purchase and install the cameras.

“These cameras have now been installed in buses at all of Palmer Bus’s 26 sites in Minnesota,” Toth stated. “Here in Montgomery, we had all the cameras installed before the school year began. They’ve been a great addition.”

The interior cameras capture multiple angles of video footage, including the passengers in the front and rear of the bus and the driver.
