TCU and HRS Schools closed, Wednesday, Nov. 27

Tri-City United Schools and Most Holy Redeemer School will be closed, Wednesday, Nov. 27 due to impending levels of snow and wind.

However, Superintendent Teri Preisler noted that KidZone and WRAP services, which are the before- and after-school care programs serving students in kindergarten through grade 6, will be open from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Preisler added the first snow day of the 2019-2020 school year will NOT be a Blended Learning Day.

Due to the impending weather, the City of Montgomery has declared a snow emergency. According to the city’s website, crews plan to start plowing at midnight.

Once a snow emergency has been declared it is unlawful to park a vehicle on any public street, excluding the Central Business District, until it has been fully cleared, curb-to-curb. The Central Business District is defined as First Street and one block either side of it between Oak and Boulevard Avenues. Vehicles cannot be parked in the Central Business District after 2 a.m. until it has been fully cleared, curb-to-curb.

Residents will be allowed to park in the City parking lots until the Snow Emergency is over. However, vehicles must be removed from City lots within 24 hours after the snow emergency is over. Violators will be ticketed. If off-street parking is not available it is lawful to park on the property front yard during the declared emergency.
