TCU boys soccer splits opening games

The Tri-City United boys soccer team defeated Fairmont, 5-1, Saturday, August 26 and lost a 3-1 contest to Southwest Minnesota Christian Monday August 28.

Fairmont 0 1 - 1

The Tri-City United Boys Soccer team opened the season at home with a decisive 5-1 victory over Fairmont. The Titans set the tone early as junior Alan Ortiz set up 8th grader Angel Ruiz Gomez for the season's first goal in the 10th minute. In the 35th minute, following a furious defensive scramble deep in the Titans zone, 8th grader Gio Perez launched a long pass across midfield to Rafael Balcazar. The Junior darted past the Fairmont defense before coolly guiding the ball past the keeper for a 2-0 lead.
