Chad Johnson, physical education teacher and head wrestling and head girls' and boys' track Coach for Sibley East Public Schools, has been named the new high school activities director for Tri-City United High School.

The announcement came via an email from Superintendent Teri Preisler to school board members and news media outlets on Saturday.

“Tri-City United is pleased to announce that after a strong candidate pool and interview process, we have offered our TCU Activities Director position to Mr. Chad Johnson and he has accepted with excitement for the future,” she wrote.

During his education career, Preisler wrote that Johnson has also served as an activities director, football, softball, and volleyball coach, student council advisor, and dean of students.

He also serves on the Nicollet School Board and has engaged with Minnesota State High School League’s Why We Play and officials recruitment initiatives.

Johnson’s first official start date is July 1, 2018, but will also include time in June for transition processes with outgoing activities director Jason Myhre.

Myhre, who took the TCU AD job in 2016, resigned earlier this month to take the activities job in his hometown of Minneota where he had been working before coming to TCU.

The TCU School Board is expected to approve Johnson’s hiring at its meeting in June.
