TCU receives 3rd seed in Section 2AA Tournament

After a very successful regular season, the Tri-City United (TCU) girls basketball team has received the No. 3 seed in the Section 2AA Tournament, which starts Monday, Feb. 24.

The Titans will face No. 14 seed, Blue Earth Area. A win, and the Titans would host either Belle Plaine and Lake Crystal-Wellcome Memorial Thursday, Feb. 27. The Section Semifinals will be played at MSU-Mankato Monday, Feb. 3 at 7:30 p.m.

TCU had a busy week against some very good teams and finished with one win and a pair of losses.

The week started with a 69-50 win over Worthington Tuesday, Feb. 11. Marshall, the 3rd rated team in Class AAA, defeated the Titans 78-46, Friday, Feb. 14. New Ulm defeated the Titans 76- 51 Saturday, Feb. 25.

In the win over Worthington, Grace Hennen led the team with 18 points and 13 rebounds. Ella Schmiesing scored 13 points and had seven rebounds. Alexis Marcussen added nine points, five rebounds, and five assists. Audrey Vosejpka had nine points and seven rebounds.

“Going up against the 3rd ranked team in Class AAA, we knew we had our work cut out for us.
