Tennis battles in first matches of season

The TCU Tennis Team lost their first couple of matches of the season, but battled hard to win two games each in their contests against United South Central (USC) and Southwest Christian (SWC).

In the game against USC in Le Center last Thursday, the Titans lost their match 5-2, but Coach Phil Murry said the Titans played well and battled hard for their wins.

“No. 3 doubles (Allie Schley and Savannah Squires) played really well. They battled through the first set and then really dominated in the second,” he stated. “No. 1 singles (Josie Plut) really put her game together today. She lost the first three games then won the next six to win the first set. She struggled in set two but really played with great poise to outlast her opponent.”

No. 1 Josie Plut, TCU, defeated Alison Swanson, USC, 6-3, 2-6, 7-5 No. 2 Delaney Weber, USC, defeated Monserrat Ruiz, TCU, 6-2, 6-1 No. 3 Elizabeth Romores, USC, defeated Morgan Mueller, TCU, 6-2, 7-6 (7) No. 4 Kelsie Chapman, USC, defeated Sami Tiede, TCU, 7-5, 6-2

Doubles

No. 1 Maya Zebro and Macy Zebro, USC, defeated Gabby Prochaska and Rachel Rynda, TCU, 6-4, 6-3 No. 2 Lauren Zebro and Olivia Schwartz, USC, defeated Emma Traenor and MacKenzie Holmbo, TCU, 6-4, 6-4 No. 3 Allie Schley and Savannah Squires, TCU, defeated Hannah Olson and Brooklyn Yokiel, USC, 7-6 (7), 6-1 Murry continued by saying the team played much better all through the lineup, stating the team had....
