Wrestlers add more wins to record

The TCU Wrestling Team added more wins to its record last week at the high school and on the road in Waseca.

TCU 47 - Medford 9

On Tuesday, Feb. 23 it hosted Medford and Pine Island. TCU beat both teams. In the match against Medford, TCU dominated in the contest’s first nine weight classes.

Chris Johnson (113 pounds) Zach Balma (120), Cole Franek (138), and Carter O’Malley (145) all beat their opponents with pins. Brant Lemieux won with a 14-12 decision, and Caleb Whipps won with a 20-8 major decision.

TCU lost the 170, 195 and 285-pound weight classes, but Brody Rud (182) won by a fall in 59 seconds. Riley O’Malley defeated his opponent in the 220 weight class with a 16-7 major decision.

TCU 72 - Pine Island 12

The second match of the night was against Pine Island. TCU won the rounds of 132, 145, 152, 170 and 220 pounds by forfeit.

The only rounds TCU lost were in the 195-weight class by forfeit, and the heavy weight class of 285 when Jack Swanson defeated TCU’s Robert Bastyr with a fall in 3:12.
