Wrestlers do well at Redwood River Riot

Several wrestlers scored victories at the Redwood River Riot on December 21 and 22. Nick Johnson at 120 pounds, Sam Miller at 195 pounds and Jose Reyes did well at the tournament.

Johnson defeated Kelvin Andrade-Ponce of Atwater-Cosmos-Grove City in his first bout with a 9-2 decision. He continued with a win against Erik Artiga of Worthington in a 6-4 decision, and Wyatt Taylor of Sibley East with a pin in 2:53. He defeated Ryan Borris with a 11-3 major decision before he was defeated by Jaxson Rohman of Fairmont-Martin County West in the final round. He was pinned in 2:03.

Sam Miller defeated five opponents before losing to Derek Werner of Wabasso-Red Rock Center in a 8-4 decision. Prior to his loss, Miller defeated Ethan Peters of Kerkhoven-Murdock-Sunburg in a 5-2 decision in overtime, Jacob Brey of St. James Area in a 5-2 decision, Thayne Decker of Maple River with a pin in 1:36, and Jesus Cardena of Atwater-Cosmos-Grove City with a pin in 3:06.

Jose Reyes had scored two wins, one against Deryk Neu of Alexandria Area with a 12-2 major decision, and again Tim Peppel of BOLD with a 11-4 decision. Reyes was defeated by Kaleb Haase of Redwood-River Valley with a 5-3 decision before the Titan went on to defeat Nick MaKenzie of New London-Spicer with a 4-1 decision and Quintin Lehmann of Dawson-Boyd-Lac Qui Parle-Montevideo United with a pin in 3:42.
