Can COVID-19 be transmitted on printed newspapers?

Are you wondering about the safety of our printed newspapers during this COVID-19 crisis?

According to information from the World Health Organization (WHO), a highly credible source of factual information, the likelihood of an infected person contaminating commercial goods is low, and the risk of catching the virus that causes COVID-19 from a package that has been moved, traveled and exposed to different conditions and temperatures is also low.

The Centers for Disease Control (CDC) has provided the same “low risk” guidance for packages. This would apply to newspapers as well.

There is still a lot that is unknown about the newly emerged COVID-19 and how it spreads. Suel Printing Company is taking proactive measures, such as eliminating walk-in traffic to our offices, to ensure the safety of our staff who work behind the scenes to print and deliver the news to you.

Especially in times of crisis like the one we are experiencing together, we recognize the essential role we play to help keep our community informed and safe. We want to assure you that we are taking every precaution to prevent the spread of COVID-19 while we continue to serve you.

Our reporters and staff behind the scenes are taking additional precautions to stay healthy, including social distancing. We are dependent on you, our readers, to send us news and/or photos over the phone, via text, email, or through social media. Gathering of local news has taken on a whole new dimension.

Digital edition available

We understand that right now you may prefer to read a digital format of your newspaper in place of your print edition. If that is your preference, please call our circulation department at 952-758-4435 or email circulation@newpraguetimes.com, and we will email you a link for the digital edition every Thursday.

Our mission is to be your best, accurate local source for community news. Thank you for your support as we navigate these uncharted waters together. May you and your family remain safe during this public health issue that is affecting all aspects of our lives and community.
