Le Sueur County planning busy 2019

The calendar year of 2019 will be filled with many projects in Le Sueur County.

One of the county’s biggest projects in the last three decades is the construction of the new Justice Center in Le Center.

The project is scheduled to be completed and ready for occupancy in August of 2019.

The county is currently hiring a number of new correction officers and dispatchers.

They are also working on the transferring of probation, court administration, court rooms, judicial court areas, and all sheriff’s department personnel to the new justice center.

All employees and offices will be moved from the second floor.

With the movement of these areas from the courthouse, the second floor will also be transformed into office space.

This Phase 2 project will begin with the planning process this year and work on the remodeling in the near future.

County Administrator Darrell Pettis said the county will also begin looking at how they can repurpose the 1912 jail and 1980 buildings which are used by the sheriff’s department.

Le Sueur County will also be taking a serious look at transportation and the road system.

“We are one of the few counties that did not increase the wheelage tax,” Pettis said. “Our road system can devour a massive amount of resources in a short period of time.”

One of the biggest county projects is the improvements on County Road 22, which is located between the city of Le Sueur and the city of Le Center.
