The New Prague Trojans adapted softball team opened its season with a 12-5 loss to Chaska/Chanhassen/Shakope e/Prior Lake, then rebounded with a 15-5 win over South Suburban last week. Both games were at home.

The Trojans will play South Washington Thursday, April 25, at East Ridge High School in Woodbury, then play at South Suburban Tuesday, April 30, at Bloomington Jefferson. They return home Thursday, May 2, facing Burnsville/Farmington/ Lakeville.

Southern Stars 12, Trojans 5 New Prague opened its season with a non-league game against Chaska/Chanhassen/ Shakopee/Prior Lake and lost 12-5 Tuesday, April 16.

Besides being the team’s first game, they had lost the two previous practices due to snow days, and the team was a little out of synch.

New Prague trailed 7-4 going into the seventh, but allowed five more runs in the final inning on their way to a 12-5 loss.

Blake Perry went 3-for-4 to lead for the Trojans. Garrett Gagner and Breanna Stark were 2-for-3. Evan Minar, Dorner, Aaron Adamson and Caleb Smith each went 2-for-4.

Trojans 15, Jets 5 New Prague responded to their opening day loss with a solid win over South Suburban Thursday, April 18.

The Jets scored three runs in the first inning, but then pitcher Garrett Gagner struck out two and caught a fly ball to get out of the inning.
