Marvin R. Wondra, 91

Marvin R. Wondra, age 91, of Montgomery, passed away on Monday, February 13, 2023 at Traditions of Montgomery. Visitation will be on Sunday, February 19 from 3 p.m. - 6 p.m. at Schoenbauer Funeral Home in Montgomery. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, February 20 at 11 a.m. with visitation 9:30 a.m. - 11 a.m. all held at Most Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in Montgomery with Fr. Tom Niehaus officiating. Interment will be held at a later date in Calvary Cemetery in Montgomery.

Marvin was born on October 2, 1931 to George F. and Mary (Jakes) Wondra. Marvin graduated as class president from Montgomery High School in 1949 and was a proud member of his class of ‘49ers throughout his life. He also was a graduate of Dunwoody Institute where he studied welding. Marvin was united in marriage to his high school sweetheart Mary Patricia Petricka on January 27, 1951 at Most Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in Montgomery. They were married almost 60 years when she died in 2010. He and his brother Alvin, operated Wondra Brothers Garage in Montgomery from 1956-1978 and then he worked at MVE (Chart) Industries in New Prague where he retired in 1993. In retirement he kept busy cutting lawns. He enjoyed the outdoors especially deer hunting and snowmobiling, socializing with friends, was a practical joker with his friends and at work, loved spending time with his grandchildren and was proud of his Czech heritage.

Marvin is survived by his children, Mary Lynn Gross of New Prague, Patti (Mark) Pany of Delano, and Ted (Colleen) Wondra of Montgomery; grandchildren, Mary Kate (Pat) Bisek, Laura (James) Lowe, Stephen Gross (Courtney Kelley), Leah (Allen) Lam, Sam Pany (Christine Godding), Ben (Staza) Pany, Joe (Cate) Pany, Lisa (Eric) Schroeder and Teddy (Janna) Wondra; 15 great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Margie Wondra and Corinne Petricka.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Mary P. Wondra; parents, George and Mary Wondra; brother, Alvin Wondra; son-in-law, Larry Gross; granddaughter, Sarah Wondra.
