Alice M. Jirik, 72

Alice M. Jirik, age 72, of New Prague, died suddenly but peacefully on Monday, June 25, 2018 at Mala Strana Rehabilitation Center.  Alice was born on July 29, 1945 in New Prague to Leo M. and Alyce R. (Shimek) Mamer.  She attended St. Wenceslaus Catholic School, graduated from New Prague High School, and graduated as an LPN from St. Joseph School of Nursing in Mankato.  Alice married Donald C. Jirik on November 6, 1965 at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church.  She was a very proud nurse, beginning and ending her career at Queen of Peace Hospital in New Prague.  She finally retired in 2013, and continued to enjoy getting together with her retired nurse friends for lunch on the first Friday of each month.  She was a member of St. Wenceslaus CCW.  In her earlier years, Alice enjoyed quilting and embroidery.  She was an avid Minnesota Twins fan and always enjoyed cooking.  She did extensive traveling with Don throughout the U.S., Canada, and the world but one of her greatest sources of joy came from spending time up north at the same resort cabin for 26 years with the entire family.

Alice is survived by her loving husband, Don; children, John (Kim) Jirik of Orr, MN, Tammy (Joe) Murphy of New Prague, Steve Jirik of New Prague; grandchildren, Katie, Tommie, Madisson, Charlie, & Leo; sisters, Margaret (Frank) Trowbridge of Coon Rapids, Patricia (Roger) Anderson of Chaska; brother, Peter Mamer of Shakopee.  She is preceded in death by her parents; brother, Michael Mamer.

Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday, June 28, 2018 at 11:30 AM at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church with Father George Grafsky officiating.  Visitation will take place Thursday morning from 9 – 11 AM at Bruzek Funeral Home.
