Beatrice Krocak, 98

Beatrice M. Krocak passed away at Mala Strana Skilled Nursing Home on October 24, 2018 at the age of 98 years.

Bea was born on September 24, 1920 to Joseph and Mary (Borak) Novotny.  She was a graduate of New Prague High School and the Minneapolis Vocational School of Nursing where she earned her LPN.

She married Melvin E. Krocak in 1941, and they made their primary home in New Prague, living also in Jordan, MN for some years.  In 1998 she moved to California to be nearer her children, and only recently relocated back to New Prague in February, 2018.

Bea was a wonderfully compassionate nurse, spending most of her career caring for those at Queen of Peace Hospital and then Mala Strana Skilled Nursing Home until her retirement.  After retiring, she volunteered and participated in many areas including the Historical Society, Czech Singers, St. Wenceslaus Choir, Library, and as a Hospice Aide, all in New Prague.  She continued to be "the nurse" to everyone wherever she lived, and children flocked to her, as she possessed the ability to entertain them like none other.  Her door was always open.

She is survived by her children Bill (Pam) Krocak of Houston, TX, Mary Rosendahl of Clovis, CA, and Katie (Don) Nelson of Bakersfield, CA; grandchildren, Matt, Drew, Susan, Joe, Rye and Keir, and seven great-grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her parents Joe and Mary Novotny, husband Melvin Krocak, and grandson David Rosendahl.

Bea was a great mom who raised her kids with lots of love, a listening ear, and a riotous sense of humor.  She taught us to appreciate the little things in life, to value family and friends, to be responsible, and to LAUGH!

She always told us that she'd never stop watching over us.  We know she never will.  Love you mom, and thanks for everything!

Funeral services will be held at Bruzek funeral home on Tuesday October 30th at 10:00 a.m. and interment will follow at the New Prague Catholic Cemetery.

Bea’s family wishes to thank the staff members of Mala Strana and MN Hospice for their heartfelt care; Rose Kodet for coming to the rescue; and all of Katie’s hometown friends who more than stepped up to the plate in so many ways.  You are all awesome!
