Ben M. Zweber

Ben was born on March 31, 1931, in Elko, MN, to Alex and Odelia (Radermacher) Zweber, and passed away May 7, 2025. He grew up in the New Market area and married Mary Haley on May 21, 1955. In 1963, they began farming together, and Ben continued farming for 40 years before retiring. Ben proudly served his country in the U.S. Army and was an active member of the St. Nicholas Knights of Columbus, where he helped organize Christmas tree sales. He was also a member of the NEW Lions and served on the boards of various agricultural organizations.
Ben found great joy in volunteer work. He served as a hospitality volunteer at New Prague Hospital, offering coffee and snacks to patients, and was a communion minister to the homebound. He also served people in need through hospice care, the food shelf, and Meals on Wheels. One of his greatest joys was mowing the lawn at Holy Cross School, a task he lovingly performed for over 20 years.
He is survived by his loving wife of 70 years, Mary; 12 children: Tom (Barb), Mike (Jo Anne), Jean (Dale) Moss, Mary (Mark) Witt, Barb (Rick) Huff, Carol (Mike) Thom, Dennis, Phil (Julie), Dave, Kathleen Monach, Greg (Nicole), and Diane Tietz; 34 grandchildren; 41 great-grandchildren; and siblings: Val, Jerry (Karen), Ed (Sherry), and Lenny (Dixie) Zweber.
