Boys run 3rd at WCC meet

The New Prague Trojan boys track and field team placed third at the Wright County Conference East Championships Tuesday, May 15. The event was held at Trojan Stadium in New Prague.

"We were very proud of the positive energy and competitive spirit that our athletes brought to the meet today, and that approach contributed to a lot of success," Coach Nick Meyer said. "On the day, the Trojans logged 20 personal records or season best performances, a truly impressive number this late in the season," Meyer said. "As a team, we totaled 21 scoring (top 6) performances, including three second place finishes (Honorable Mention) and three champions (All-Conference).”

Waconia won the meet with 190.5 points, with Hutchinson second at 163 and New Prague third at 114. Also competing were Orono (50), Delano (21.5) and Holy Family Catholic (14).

Conference champions were Christian Velishek in the long jump, John Wacker in the triple jump and Caleb Loney in the shot put. Honorable mention performances were turned in by Velishek in the high jump and Eli Parker in the 200 meters and the 300 hurdles. Also earning honorable mention were....
