Boys soccer drops 2 to open season
The New Prague Trojan boys soccer team got its season started last week with a pair of Big 9 opponents, and while the Trojan defense was strong, their offense could not find the net as they lost 2- 0 to Mankato West and 1-0 to Faribault.
New Prague’s offense busted loose for five goals in a 5-0 win over Jordan Monday, Aug. 26. Details on that game will be published next week.
The Trojans will travel to Farmington Thursday, Aug. 29, and host St. Louis Park on Tuesday, Sept. 3, both games scheduled for 7 p.m. starts. New Prague will open its Wright County Conference schedule at Orono Thursday, Sept. 5, at 5 p.m.
Scarlets 2, Trojans 0 "Mankato West is usually a pretty competitive game for us," Trojan Coach Gospel Kordah said. "The game started off good. We were able to play out of the back and worked on connecting our passes. We played a three-back system which my boys are not used to or too familiar with."
The Scarlets scored midway through the first half and added another early in the second half to take a 2-0 lead.
