CC girls place 3rd at home meet
The New Prague Trojan girls cross country team finished third of nine teams at the New Prague Invitational, held at the New Prague Golf Club Tuesday, Sept. 24.
Lakeville South and Red Wing tied for the top spot with 31 points each. South won the team title on a tie-breaker, with their sixth finisher placing 45th overall. New Prague had 67, with the rest of the field including Le Sueur- Henderson (107), Tri-City United (147), Sibley East (156) and Norwood- Young America (187). Cannon Falls and Holy Family Catholic did not field complete teams.
Red Wing senior Grace Johnson won the meet with a time of 19 minutes 46 seconds on the 5,000-meter course.
Top Trojan finisher was sophomore Nora Rosemeier, who was fifth in 20:33. Senior Elsie Hatlevig placed 11th in 22:01, while eighth-grader Sophie Baker finished 15th in 22:11, Abbey Carlson was 17th in 22:30, Alyssa Bixler 19th in 23:00 and Bethany Vasecka was 24th in 23:49.
"Nora Rosemeier continues to lead the team on the course and with her daily work ethic," Coach Shawn Brandt said. "The girls were able to finish third behind strong Lakeville South and Red Wing teams."
